Why hasn't someone implemented a better system than the current electoral college?

I know that there are varying opinions as to whether or not the electoral college system is a good one. I don't think that it is. I know the system was implemented so that less populated states have more weight in elections. While this may seem fair, I still think popular vote would be a better option. And I think more people would come out and vote if they knew there vote was actually going to help elect the president. There may be more people in New York than Idaho, but if every single vote counted throughout the country, collectively, than the President in office would truly be what the majority of Americans want. Am I wrong to think this way? What are your opinions on this matter?

What is wrong with my computer?

My computer running windows xp sp3 suddenly freezes. It will boot up to the login screen and I can sign in but not soon after it starts to boot up, my monitor suddenly indicates there is no signal and goes to standby and the keyboard goes unresponsive (no change in num lock, caps lock lights; attempted keystroke windows shutdowns and restart commands do not respond) I tried using a different monitor, no change. I tried booting from a fedora 13 cd, still no change. Thought about a graphics card failure (using a PNY nvidia geforce 7600 gs, agp) but why would a graphics card failure cause the entire system to freeze, shouldn't it just function regularly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my question to you would be, what are you trying to accomplish? are you working out? However many calories you were taking in, if you want to loose weight, you need to cut your calories, burn more than you take in and try to eat small portions through out the day. Make sure you are taking in fiber and a multi vitamin as well as veggies with some protein...just make sure you eat small well balanced meals through out the day. It seems what you have eaten so far is pretty good, just try to eat more protein and whatever you do, do not drink anything with caffeine in it, try to substitute that for H2O

My brother and his wife have a 2.5 yo girl. They are very strict. I once saw them her for not sitting up straight in her high chair. Now, he says, she is getting "very defiant". By that, he means she sometimes makes a grunting noise at them when she's mad at them. Is pregnancy possible or does it take awhile after IUD removal?

I had a Mirena IUD removed mid June, just a couple weeks before my wedding. I started bleeding before I was even out of the building and it continued off and on very lightly for a few days. My regular cycle usually starts around the 12th every month. During the 2 years I had the Mirena in I did not have my period at all. I have not had my period at all during the mth of July. No bleeding at all. I have had one pregnancy test that was negative. I'm still wondering if I'm pregnant. We are using the 'pull out' method. Does it take awhile to get your regular period back after IUD removal, or should I get another pregnancy test? I'm on medication for a leg problem right now so my seldom nausea is hard to tell if its from the med or....being pregnant. I have two kids already so I'm familiar with the signs. But wondering if the IUD removal has me excited over nothing. haha thanks for you opinions.

My wife and I went to buy a new car at a chevy dealership and both of our credit scores are pretty bad. Hers is in the 400 and mine is in the 550 range. They used mine for that reason. Anyways, I had a auto loan for a truck I bought a while ago and the bank required the title for the truck and I never sent it to them. They in turn, deemed the loan "unsecured". I sold my truck and didn't pay the loan off (since it was deemed "unsecured") to build my credit back up. On my credit report it say's "auto loan." Therefore when the dealership tried to get me approved for a loan, they told me that I needed a co-signer. They said it was because the bank they were trying to get me a loan through needed justification for two vehicles. Now if I was to pay the old vehicle loan off, would I not need a co-signer?

She could have made another Breakaway but she felt artistically that she had to challenge herself and do something different. Although the album is not a smash hit it reflects Kelly Clarkson, or at least a part of Kelly Clarkson. Like it or not, this is who she is. I think this is just a blip on the radar for Kelly. Any little rituals or things you do to calm you or help you get through the day?

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. Car accident help, could i be deemed at fault?

i got in a car accident few days ago, i was the only one in my car. As a little kid, when my sisters & I would go skating on the pond, I would pretend to be a professional figure skater. As I grew older, I wanted to be an Astronomer. My hamster is losing fur and has a small lump on her belly?

please help guys. my hamster is a syrian and is abouot 1 and half years old. she is the most friendly hamster, if a little lazy, she is happy to snuggle up and fall asleep on you. she is the best, but recently i have been having alot of exams so i havn't been getting her out as often. when i got her out the other day i noticed she had lost alot of fur on her back legs near her feet. today i as i picked her up i noticed she has also lost fur on her belly and a small lump near where her bum hole is. it is under 1cm across it but quite red. she is still her usual self if a little more unfriendly and doesn't liked to be touched on that area. i dont know if it is something that i have just not noticed before as there was fur there, but i dont know i am really worried about her. she is still eating and drinking the same, what should i do? what could it be? i could take her to the vets but it is really expensive and i dont want it to change her (my friend took her hamster there and it started biting her after) please help guys, i want to know what is wrong with her desperatley. sorry its so long but i would really appreciate your help :)

Yes if the ground or the power is not properly getting to the distributor it can cause misfire. However what you are describing is more along the lines of timing. If the timing of the engine is correct, is the timing of your distributor that is causing problems. When you first turn your car on it opens up the throttle body fully so that is why it won't misfire at first but when it warms up the throttle body is set to normal and if the timing is wrong your vehicle will miss fire, as you probably have the ignition happening before the piston gets to its max efficient height, causing miss firing. Adjust your rotor accordingly when your vehicle is warm.

Several years ago I was diagnosed with high levels of Lead, mercury & Germanium in my body.. I know that Lead causes ADHD, &mental retardation, & Mercury can cause nerve&brain damage-(& causes widespread pain- at least in my case), but i dont know what effects the Germanium wouldve had, if any effects. I do know the source of Mercury (dental fillings) but i have no clue how I was exposed to Lead or Germanium...I didnt eat paint chips & I hadnt even heard of Germanium, until after the diagnosis... where is it even found?

The nerve of this woman during my husband's funeral?

My husband wasnt feeling good one day before work and I took him to the hospital where they told me he was severely dehydrated and they were going to put him in ICU overnight to push fluids and put him on the floor the next morning. He was doing ok that night but the next morning something went terribly wrong and he died. He was only 32 and Im 29 we dont have any children but we had each other. His mothers side said I killed him and requested an autopsy but cldnt get one if I didnt sign for it so I signed only because it was so sudden and to give them the closure that they needed. It took two weeks to have the funeral because we don't have a pathologist here and they caused problems the whole time. They decided not to come to my repast so they had their own which made people have to decide which one to attend.Three days later my husbands bestfreind called me and told me that my husband wasnt happy with me & wanted a divorce. Also that he wanted to take her to Mexico and 09 was suppose to be their year. My husband was my bestfriend and took care of the whole time we were married and still taking care of me now that he's not here. We did everything together and was very happy. People do horrible things all the time but if it was something why wait for him to die to say something? Seeing how much pain I'm even if it was true why not keep it to herself? This girl was in our wedding and I put her in his obituary as a devoted friend but to make matters worse she was at the funeral and found me to give me a hug!
