Paranormal Activity, what were the footprints?

I just saw the movie Paranormal activity, and i liked it alot. one thing i thought was very interesting was the scene where Micah puts the powder on the floor and footprints apear that night, i looked closley and some prints looked like deer footprints, i know that the devil sign is that ram thing which have those hooves, so it that what it is supposed to be?
